How to use Xobin's lockdown browser - XoLock?

What is XoLock?
XoLock is Xobin's dedicated secure assessment browser. Candidates install it once and use it to take assessments and AI Interviews in a fully locked-down environment. Compatible with Windows and macOS.

Traditional proctoring detects cheating after it happens. XoLock prevents it from happening at all — by locking down the entire device environment before and during the assessment.

Core Capabilities of XoLock:

  • Pre-Launch Checks
Before the assessment starts, XoLock automatically verifies that all forbidden apps are closed, permissions are active, and the network is stable. Browsers, AI tools, video conferencing, and communication apps are all detected and blocked before launch. The assessment only launches when every check passes.
  • Exam Lockdown
20+ restrictions enforced the moment the assessment begins — full-screen, no tab or window switching, no keyboard shortcuts, no clipboard, no screenshots, no multiple monitors.
  • Violation Handling
Minor violations — candidate is immediately pulled back to the assessment, and the violation is logged. Critical violations — assessment is frozen and flagged in the report.
  • Reports
Every violation is timestamped and logged automatically. Full audit trail is available post-assessment. No manual monitoring is needed.

How to enable Lockdown Browser for an Assessment:

  1. Log In to Your Account

  1. Navigate to the Assessments Tab
  • In the sidebar, click Assessments.

  1. Access the Assessment Settings
  • Click Manage next to the required assessment.

  1. Enabling Lockdown Browser / XoLock
  • Go to General.
  • Toggle on Lockdown Browser.
  • Click Save Changes.

Once Lockdown Browser is enabled, candidates will no longer be able to take the assessment in a regular browser. They must install XoLock and complete the assessment exclusively through it.
